Dear Readers,
It’s been quite a year for us. Before the season we had no idea we’d be covering football in a formal way, much less covering a Super Bowl and, for that matter, actually having people reading it. We’ve enjoyed this project greatly, and are gratified by your responses and hope for even bigger and better things moving forward.
Inside The Pylon published over 400 articles this season by 25 different authors. We had another 25 folks helping behind the scenes ‒ editing, technical, marketing ‒ and we always had you, our loyal readers.
We started out with about 800 page views per day; for perspective, the SoSH forums get 70 million a year, give or take a few. By late October we had our first really big day (8,000!) and kept adding dedicated, repeat visitors.
We had our first 40,000-page view day last week. Our work garnered mentions by Football Outsiders, a New York Times columnist, fivethirtyeight.com, Deadspin, Slate, and many others. And we kept adding readers.
Running an online publishing site costs money, and Inside The Pylon is no different. We have lots of big plans ‒ video, infrastructure, maybe even paying writers ‒ but we are a long way from self-sufficiency. To that end, we’re asking for your help.

We truly appreciate how readers have embraced our project and made it grow. We hope you enjoyed it and learned a little about football. And we really hope you want to stay involved as we grow into other areas and become a powerhouse for intelligent sports discussion.
Thank you,
Inside The Pylon
