It’s Kicker Friday here at the Inside the Pylon, but this week covers the players that are supposed to be helping their kickers and punters. On the October 14 Quick Kicks Podcast Chuck Zodda and Mark Schofield look at the Ravens special teams and how and why they are struggling with their coverage units. Last week against Washington they allowed an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown and a long kickoff return after missing some key tackles and being blocked easily by Washington. Whether it is play calling or effort from the players, there is an obvious problem with the Ravens special teams. Other topics include:
- Where the Baltimore Ravens punt coverage unit has been failing (2:30)
- Did the Ravens see something in the Washington punt return unit to send an extra blocker (7:24)
- How Anthony Levine was taken out of two critical return plays (9:58)
- Whether the 30 mph wind gusts played any part in the poor coverage unit play (13:19)
- Is there anything Baltimore can do to fix these problems (15:48)
